omnia® Clear is a multi-component wood coating system that offers ultimate protection against UV, weather damage and wood rot. omnia® Clear has been tested under years of accelerated weathering to prove that it will last. The result is a ultra-clear high performance exterior coating system with comprehensive stain blocking and weather resistance.
omnia® Exterior Joinery Coatings are suitable for multiple wood types, as well as Accoya® acetylated wood. Guidelines for the use of omnia® with Accoya® can be found in the omnia® Exterior Joinery Guide for Accoya®.
omnia® Clear System
The omnia® Clear system mainly consists of omnia® Wood Protect, End Grain Sealer and Clear exterior topcoats, but can also include omnia® Knotting to help prevent extractive staining and omnia® Prime Pre-Treatment to further isolate and suppress extractives from woods (such as idigbo, sapele, western red cedar, mahogany, or other timber species) that may stain the coating.
omnia® offers many years of protection against the elements as long as timber selection, preparation and design meet TWA scheme criteria and requirement standards, and the application of the wood coatings are in accordance with the appropriate Morrells product data and/or specification. This range has been extensively tested to BS 927-3 (Natural Exposure) and BS EN 927-6 (Accelerated Exposure) for use as a wooden exterior joinery finish. Though omnia® offers UV protection, water repellancy and weather protection, very exposed or coastal locations can reduce the longevity of all exterior coatings. For this reason annual inspections and maintenance must be carried out according to the omnia® Maintenance Guide.
omnia® Wood Protect
omnia® Wood Protect is a waterborne timber protector offering protection against rot and fungal attack. It is formulated to provide surface protection against rot and fungal attack. Protect is available in clear and 9 standard wood stain colours: antique pine, light oak, teak, mahogany, dark mahogany, rosewood, walnut, dark oak and jacobean.
omnia® End Grain Sealer
omnia® End Grain Sealer is a waterborne sealer used to reduce moisture absorption and close the porosity of the timber. End Grain Sealer must be used as part of the recommended omnia® system. omnia® End Grain Sealer is a high viscosity product designed for brush application and formulated to achieve good penetration, flexibility and moisture repellence. Use in both the clear and opaque omnia® finishing systems.
omnia® Clear Exterior Topcoat
A range of high performance exterior waterborne lacquers with hybrid-microporous technology and UV diffusers to give unrivalled weather resistance. The structure of the wood is protected from long term UV damage. Available in semi-matt 30% sheen or 60% gloss. A vacuum-coat version is also available for linear mass production. This range has been extensively tested to BS 927-3 (Natural Exposure) and BS EN 927-6 (Accelerated Exposure) for use as an exterior joinery finish.
Best-in-Class Resistance
The Blisterbox Test - a stress test designed for exterior coatings to assess resistance to blistering. Blistering occurs when a poor exterior wood finish prevents the release of moisture. This subsequently causes a rise in humidity between the coating and the timber, forcing the coating away from the substrate. This test is particularly important for window frames and doors, where one side is warm (interior) and the other cold (exterior), causing moisture to be forced through the exterior coating as it flows from warm to cold. A Pass here shows omnia® has the advanced microporosity and moisture transit required to ensure blisters do not develop from a build-up of moisture.

omnia® has been designed as a full finishing system, from surface preparation to topcoat. As omnia® is available in clear and opaque topcoat systems for multiple varieties of wood, please consult our Exterior Joinery Guide for Exterior Finishing and the system guidelines below. Choose your system below:
Ensure that the substrate is clean, dry and free from contaminants.
Wipe all surfaces with a sharp solvent such as Morrells Cellulose Thinner (2007/000) prior to coating application. Turn the wiper so that the contamination is removed rather than dispersed. Allow the solvent to flash off for 30 minutes and apply the first surface coating within two hours of cleaning. Observe Health and Safety matters. The maximum recommended wood moisture content is 18%. We do not recommend the use of American Oak due its low moisture content and therefore liability of movement.
