xerofire® Colour Fire Retardant System

xerofire® Fire Retardant wood finishing systems from Morrells are class-leading systems, providing a high quality, opaque, furniture-grade finish with National Fire Class 0 accreditation as well as EN Euro Reaction to Fire Class B-s1,d0, the best possible Euro reaction to fire performance rating for a system of this type.

  • Fire Class 0 and Euro Fire Class B-s1,d0 furniture-grade wood finishing system
  • Fire resistant, fire proof paint system
  • Fire rated system for spray application

A professional wood finishing system formulated to upgrade (or maintain) the fire-rating of a wide variety of wood-based substrates, including veneered panels, solid hard- and softwoods, plywood, MDF and wood-composite boards. The xerofire® Colour Fire Retardant Coatings system comprises of a 2K waterborne white primer in combination with a 2K acid-catalyst pigmented topcoat providing a high quality, furniture-grade finish in your choice of colour.

Scope for Use

xerofire® Colour fire retardant paint system provides an exceptional finish and is suitable for use with most solid timbers, veneers, MDF and composite boards, giving the architect, specifier and designer a wide range of substrate options.

xerofire® is suitable for use with substrates that meet the following parameters:

  1. Thickness of at least 12mm
  2. Density of at least 510kg/m3
  3. Rating of at least D-s2,d0

xerofire® Colour Fire Retardant System

  1. xerofire® White Primer - a white waterborne fire retardant primer for use under xerofire® Colour topcoat
  2. xerofire® Colour Topcoat - a pigmented acid-catalysed pigmented topcoat for use over xerofire® Prime, available in your choice of colour

xerofire® Colour Fire Retardant Primer

A two-pack waterborne white primer designed to retard the propagation and spread of fire to Fire Class B-s1,d0 and National Class 0. This primer has not been designed to be fully opaque.

During a fire, the fire retardant primer swells to form an insulating charcoal layer. This layer prevents oxygen and heat from reaching the substrate, preventing ignition:

  1. Heat initiates degradation of the coating at around 250°C
  2. The primer reacts to form char
  3. The char expands
  4. Expansion prevents heat from reaching substrate
  5. Char eventually solidifies

xerofire® Colour Topcoat

A two-pack acid-catalyst furniture grade pigmented topcoat rated to FIRA 6250 Severe Use. Designed to give an exceptional, furniture-grade finish over xerofire® White Primer. xerofire® Colour topcoat can be colour-matched to almost any paint sample or swatch choice.
